The Weekly Review is the habit that makes everything else in GTD® work. Without it, lists drift out of date, people stop trusting them, and old habits of memory and email flags return within a month.

This checklist comes from Chapter 7 of [The Calm Firm](https://info.toodledo.com/calm-firm-gtd-playbook?utm_source=toodledo-blog&utm_medium=content&utm_campaign=calm-firm-guide), our free GTD playbook for professional service firms.

## The daily check (10 minutes)

Each morning, before email: look at today's calendar and anything due soon, clear your inbox, star three to seven tasks you'll finish today, and glance at your Waiting list for anything to chase.

## The Weekly Review (45 to 60 minutes)

Block the same slot every week. Friday afternoon works well: the week is fresh in memory and Monday starts clean.

### Get clear

1. Collect loose papers, notes and receipts.
2. Clarify every email that needs action.
3. Process your task inbox to zero.
4. Do a two-minute mind sweep for anything new.

### Get current

1. Review last week's calendar for follow-ups.
2. Review the next two to three weeks of calendar.
3. Review next actions: complete, delete, update.
4. Review Waiting for: chase anything overdue.
5. Review projects: every one has a current next action.
6. Review anything due in the next 14 days.

### Get creative

1. Review Someday: promote, keep or delete.
2. Review goals against this quarter's projects.
3. Capture new ideas and projects.

## Why reviews fail, and how to protect them

- **They get bumped.** Treat the review like a client meeting with yourself.
- **They run too long.** If it takes more than 90 minutes, your daily processing isn't happening.
- **They feel optional.** Make it a team ritual with a short Monday team review.

## Make it automatic in Toodledo

Create a repeating weekly task called "Weekly Review", paste the checklist into its note, and star it on the day it's due.
